The probability and possiblity of everything.

The lure of being anonymous is just to great. No one knows your true identity who you really are. Thus your blogs are not really reflecting you which is what a web log is meant to do. So much for your thought your feelings, your life your ska8ter and you like to blade and have a cool shades. No doubt you would even show people the pic you swiped off the net. Its like chat rooms gone bad all over again. No gender, no age, no location.

If you haven't noticed by now I like to practice what I preach my screen name is Wade Helquist and yes that is my real name. I don't even care if I tell you that I am from West Jordan, Utah. Their are enough determined people in the world that if they really wanted to find me they could.

Why do we give ourselves all these silly names my names. I have been guilty (Hershey, deepinthought, crazzyclone, paleshadow) and various others. What do they really mean just a mask!

People should be proud of their opinions, proud of their thoughts and writing and willing to display that it is them who wrote it! Not son_of_darth_vader! All though I'm sure he wouldn't mind the credit.

People are proud of their opinions, but not everyone wants to reveal their true identities and certainly not everyone wants to be found. That doesn't necessarily make them less sincere. Too bad there are people who come online just to be someone they are not, but that's true of real life too. Not everyone you meet in real life is necessarily being truthful about their opinions either.

Besides, I really like my silly name..

Mines XX just because this blog site uses same nick as Wincustomize, and I signed up there in first day of operation. My account number is just 156.

If you want to know my name, it's Rolf Redford.

I don't use any 'persona' although in earlier days I didn't want to reveal that I'm deaf.

I agree that anon just allows people to be even more nastier. They could also be same user replying to their own blogs when anon.

I agree with you their you have people in real life that hid behind their made up front of who they really are. Its not necessarily the made up name that is the killer but rather the attitude that goes with it. An attitude of I shouldn't be held responsible for my words, no on knows who I am.

If everyone treated the Internet like Real life and was just as kind to people because the would actually have to deal with their actions instead of just switching names when people got fed up with them for harassing and stalking the Internet would be a better place.

Actually, this is something I touched on in an article about names recentlyLink

Using another name is not always hiding, but I can understand the frustration with those who do abuse it that way.
